A voice crying out in the wilderness...prepare the way of the Lord!

Let’s remember the Passion of St. John the Baptist today. He was the forerunner of Christ and spans the testaments…he is Elijah, Jeremiah, or some other prophet. As John “Decreases”…Jesus “Increases”…and Jesus, is seen the same way…as some other prophet. “Isn’t his mother Mary and Joseph his father? Jesus starts, John stops…Jesus is baptized by the Baptizer and lets us know that it’s time to “repent and believe in the Gospel, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.” John is murdered after being imprisoned on a cruel, heartless whim of Herodias and the weakness of Herod, and the complicity of their daughter.
