Different Baptisms...New Life!

John the Baptist

John the Baptist was considered the last of the OT prophets prior to Jesus starting His public ministry. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s voice in her Visitation, “the babe in her womb leapt for joy”; John met Jesus in that Mystical way and proclaimed the coming of the Savior, “a voice crying out in the wilderness to prepare the way for the Lord”...in another way, John is the first of the NT prophets since he already proclaimed mystically the coming of Christ and also in the desert, with a Baptism of Repentence for all those who would change their lives...then to Andrew, James, and John saying, “There goes the Lamb of God; follow him”

11 “I baptize you with[c] water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I, and I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with[d] the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the granary, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

The Holy Innocents

Were murdered by Herod and his henchmen. Herod did not want to share power with an infant and decreed that all children 2 and under should die...

Matthew 2:16-18

The Massacre of the Infants

16 When Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi,[i] he was infuriated, and he sent and killed all the children in and around Bethlehem who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had learned from the magi.[j] 17 Then what had been spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

18 “A voice was heard in Ramah,    wailing and loud lamentation,Rachel weeping for her children;    she refused to be consoled, because they are no more.”

....they suffered in a Baptism of Blood...martyrs all...and started a new Life with God in Heaven!

Jesus, Son of God and Son of Mary

Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan...He gave the Church in this instance, "THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM"...ONE OF THE 7 SACRAMENTS THAT GIVE LIFE TO THE SOUL AND THE BODY OF CHRIST...

Matthew 3:13-17

The Baptism of Jesus

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, Let it be so now, for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. 16 And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw God’s Spirit descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from the heavens said, “This is my Son, the Beloved,[e] with whom I am well pleased.”
